Rev. Arlyn W. Rusche
Rev. Arlyn Rusche was raised on a family farm outside of Bancroft, South Dakota. He attended school in De Smet, South Dakota and graduated in 2000. From there, he moved to Wahpeton, North Dakota where he first entered a John Deere Parts Program at the North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS). After switching degrees, he finished his studies in Wahpeton with an Associates of Applied Science degree in General Agriculture in 2003. He continued his studies through a transfer to South Dakota State University (SDSU) in Brookings, South Dakota where he graduated with his Bachelor's Degree (Cum Laude) in Liberal Studies emphasizing Religion & Philosophy in 2006.
During his final year at SDSU, he met his wife, Sarah (a native of Waseca, Minnesota), and married April 17, 2010. Three months later, the couple moved to Dubuque, Iowa where he started his seminary education at Wartburg Theological Seminary and graduated with his Master's of Divinity on May 18, 2014. During that time, he was offered & accepted the call to serve the Lyman County Parish, ELCA, ordained June 21, 2014 in Brookings, SD , and fully taking the call in July 2014; along with Sarah and their cats (Herbie, Conway, & Jefferson).
During his time at Wartburg, he did his clinical pastoral experience (chaplinship) at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and internship at St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, Kansas.
In January of 2017, Pastor Arlyn & Sarah became guardians of 2 Native American children (Dace & Theresa) who have been a blessing to their lives/home.
Pastor Arlyn enjoys teaching youth ministry, playing his guitar, spending time with friends and family, and going back to his ranching roots by visiting the Presho Sale Barn & helping parishioners with cattle.
