Lyman County Parish, ELCA Vacation Bible School 2017!
"Growing in God's Garden" was the theme for our Vacation Bible School held on Wednesday May 24th - Friday May 26th at American Lutheran Church in Presho. There were approximately 20-22 students each of the three days from Vivian, Kennebec, & Presho ranging in ages from entering Kindergarten to those who completed 5th grade. The coordinators were Jan Rabern and Jen McNaughton, with assistance from Pastor Arlyn, Noah McNaughton, and Rian Johnson. Kathy Diehm assisted with snack as well. The sessions each day went from 9am - Noon with a short snack break, and included music, a bible lesson, and an activity/craft. The bible lessons focused on various parables told by Jesus including the Parable of the Sower, the Mustard Seed, and the vine and the branches. Through the lessons, music, and activities, the kids learned about being good soil, how we are connected as branches with Jesus as the vine, that a little faith in a big God can go a long way, and that ultimately, the garden belongs to God. On Friday, the kids took a field trip to Mrs. Ehlers garden in Presho and learned about some of the vegetables, flowers, and trees she has growing in her backyard. On Sunday May 28th, the kids sang a few of the songs they learned, and also shared some of the crafts they made along with the parables created by the older kids. It was a great three days for all who participated. Thank you to those who assisted with VBS this year to make it a memorable experience for our youth.
